Pregones Theatre

Pregones/PRTT is a multigenerational and multidiscipline performing ensemble and arts presenter in The Bronx and Manhattan. The organization mounts touring productions that travel throughout the world and is a leading voice of Puerto Rican / Latino theater in the country.

The Pregones Theatre Company began producing theater in New York City in 1978.  The company has had its permanent home in the Bronx since 1982, variously in the Longwood Arts Project in former P.S. 39, St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in the South Bronx, and Pregones Studio on the Grand Concourse.

Our charge was to convert a 2900 sf former warehouse building into a state-of-the-art performance space with support spaces. Working with Mitchell Kurtz, L+AA planned a central 122 seat theatre with raked seating and light booth, a lobby/gallery space with public restrooms and box office.  Supporting the new facility are rehearsal spaces and offices on the second floor, with dressing rooms, a green room, technical support spaces, a shop, and ample costume and prop storage at the lower level.
